10th Annual Avidity Awards Celebrates Gospel Excellence in a Powerful Night of Honors, Music, and CultureMicah Lee, Kim Person, Cardell Booker, Men of Prayze, and More Among This Year’s Winners

DALLAS, Texas — November 1, 2025 — The 10th Annual Avidity Awards, held at Turning Point Church in DeSoto, Texas, brought together artists, industry leaders, supporters, and fans for a milestone evening celebrating excellence across independent Gospel music. Hosted by comedian and actress Kim Coles, comedian and actor Jonathan Slocumb, and top Billboard independent recording artist Rudy Currence, the anniversary event honored an outstanding class of winners whose work continues to shape and elevate the genre. Marking its 10th year, the awards program recognized a wide range of artists, choirs, quartets, ensembles, producers, and projects, reflecting both the depth and diversity of today’s independent Gospel music landscape. Among the night’s top honorees, Micah Lee earned Artist of the Year, Frederick J received New Artist of the Year, and Rudy Currence’s “God Don’t Cancel Me” was named Song of the Year. Kim Person took home EP/Album of the Year for Speak Life and Live.

Additional major winners included Cardell Booker for Male Contemporary Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year; La’Kea Stokes for Female Contemporary Artist of the Year; Dr. Alyn E. Waller for Male Traditional Artist of the Year; and CeCe Godbolt for Female Traditional Artist of the Year.

The evening also spotlighted excellence across Gospel subgenres and ensemble categories. Tramaine Long received both Gospel Rap Artist of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year, while Emcee N.I.C.E. was named CHH Artist of the Year and Ashlei Renée won Rhythm & Praise Artist of the Year. In quartet and group categories, winners included Men of Prayze, The Patricks, Blest By Four, The Daniel Brothers, Lisa Knowles Smith & The Brown Singers, and Sensere.

Choir, ensemble, and production honors further underscored the breadth of talent recognized during the program. B. Chase Williams & Shabach won Choir of the Year, Montrae Tisdale & The Friends Chorale earned Traditional Choir of the Year, and Alphaeus Anderson & USC Upstate Gospel Choir received Contemporary Choir of the Year. Chris Wesley & Undignified Praise was named Vocal Ensemble of the Year, Robyn McGhee won Female Vocalist of the Year, and Garland “Miche” Waller was honored as Producer of the Year.

“The 10th Annual Avidity Awards was more than a celebration of achievement. It was a statement about the strength, reach, and continued evolution of independent Gospel music,” the organization said in announcing this year’s winners. “This year’s honorees represent excellence, authenticity, creativity, and impact, and we are proud to celebrate their contributions on such a historic night.”
