Derrick Huggins is a media executive, entrepreneur, author, music industry strategist, and educator with more than 27 years of leadership experience in entertainment, broadcasting, artist development, and multimedia innovation. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Avidity Media, he leads a growing multimedia enterprise that includes Avidity TV, Avidity Gospel Music Awards, Avidity Recording Academy (ARA), Avidity Promotions, Avidity Magazine, and Avidity Broadcast Data Services (Avidity BDS).

Since beginning his career in 1999 as a concert promoter and artist manager, Huggins has built a reputation for creating opportunities for independent artists, developing innovative media platforms, and advancing excellence within the Gospel music and entertainment industries. His early ventures, including Mogul Entertainment Management, later evolved into Avidity Global Entertainment, laying the foundation for his current ecosystem of media and entertainment brands.​
​​​As Founder of the Avidity Gospel Music Awards, Huggins established a national platform dedicated to recognizing excellence among independent and emerging Gospel artists, industry professionals, and creatives. Supported by the Avidity Recording Academy, the awards program continues to grow as a respected celebration of achievement within the Gospel music community.

A passionate educator and mentor, Huggins has spent decades helping artists and entertainment professionals better understand the business of music, media, branding, and audience development. His work continues to focus on equipping independent creators with the tools and knowledge needed for long-term success in an evolving industry.
On April 28, 2026, he released his book, Take The Win: Knowing When You've Already Won—and What to Do Next, a guide encouraging readers to recognize overlooked victories, redefine success, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

His leadership and contributions have been recognized through honors including a proclamation from the Dallas County, Texas Commissioner's Court for his contributions to arts and culture and the NAACP Grand Prairie, Texas Chapter's Man of Honor Award.
